About Us

curiouscustomersThe Manitoba Cattle Producers Association (MCPA) is a producer-driven, non-profit organization representing approximately 8,000 producers involved in various aspects of the beef cattle industry, including the cow/calf, backgrounding and finishing sectors.

Manitoba’s livestock industry is worth in excess of $500 million annually to the provincial economy and is a vital component of our rural communities. Manitoba is home to the third largest cow herd in Canada, with approximately 622,500 head or 12% of the national herd (Statistics Canada January 2007).

The MCPA’s mission statement is "To represent all cattle producers through communication, advocacy, research and education within industry and to government, consumers and others, to improve prosperity and ensure a sustainable future."

The MCPA board is made up of 14 directors elected for two-year terms from 14 districts around Manitoba. Directors can serve a maximum of three consecutive terms. One seat on the board may be filled by a director at large.

The MCPA engages in local and national lobbying and other activities designed to protect and to promote the interests of the Manitoba beef industry. Research partnerships and promotional activities are also key components of the MCPA’s day-to-day work.
